New Policies & Procedures
Below are our new policies and procedures at the ASRFC during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- All cardio and strength equipment is disinfected* multiple times a day by recreation staff in addition to members who clean after use.
- All cardio, strength and stretching equipment has been placed 10' apart.
- All door handles are disinfected* several times a day.
- Sanitizing counter tops and common touch points at and around the Welcome Center/facility access point are sanitized* multiple times a day.
- All sweat, shower and cleaning towels are thoroughly laundered multiple times a day.
- Electrostatic Machine is used nightly to sanitize and disinfect all surfaces and equipment.
- Self-cleaning Nanoseptic door handle sleeves, push bars, and push pads have been added to common touchpoints throughout the building.
*KU Recreation Services uses a hospital-grade disinfectant that is used in healthcare and other facilities where cleaning and prevention of cross-contamination is needed.
- Please stay home if you experience any of the following symptoms: fever, wheezing, cough, sore throat, new onset of diarrhea, muscle aches and pains, shortness of breath, runny or stuffy nose, or loss of smell or taste. If you have any of the listed symptoms, leave campus or return to your campus residence. Contact your primary care physician for advice.
- Check your symptoms on the CVKey app and scan your CVPass for Central District which includes the Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center on the kiosk by the Welcome Center desk prior to entering the facility. If you choose not to use the CVKey app, a printed paper health assessment form is required.
- Masks are required at all times (even while exercising) when using both indoor and outdoor Recreation Services spaces.
- Clean surfaces and equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning solution and towels.
- Maintain at least six feet of distance between yourself and others at all times.
- Wash/sanitize your hands frequently.
- Water fountains are unavailable throughout the facility. Please bring a refillable water bottle and use the bottle fillers.
- Stay to the right when using stairs.
- The Martial Arts Studio is unavailable at this time.
- Table tennis has been moved to racquetball court #4.
- When accessing the facility touchless check in is available through the KU Recreation Services Mobile App ("KU Recreation Services 2.0" on the App Store or Google Play), self swiping KU ID card or providing name and/or student ID.
- Limit personal belongings brought into the ASRFC.
- Guest passes are not available at this time.
- Cashless transactions only.
- Do not move chairs.
- Scheduled appointments required when meeting with full-time staff.
- Lifters should modify their intensity (weight lifted or reps performed) because perceived effort increases while wearing a mask during exercise.
- Use designated 10’x10’ areas to separate yourself from others.
- Clean surfaces and equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning solution and towels.
- Use designated 10’x10’ areas to separate yourself from others.
- Group or team activities that cannot maintain 6 feet of distancing are not permitted at this time including pick-up basketball, volleyball, etc.
- Priority scheduling given to KU Fit classes, Intramurals, and Sport Clubs.
- KU Fit classes only: Use designated 10’x10’ areas to separate yourself from others.
- Group fitness cycles are only available for KU Fit classes.
- Dumbbells, kettle bells, pre-loaded bars and equipment must stay in Free Weight Arena.
- Maximum of two people are allowed per bay of lockers in locker rooms to change clothes and/or use lockers.
- Limited time in locker room is recommended to allow other individuals access.
- The Martial Arts Studio is closed indefinitely.
