Membership FAQs
Arrangements can be made with the Operations Coordinator for purchase of a membership outside of the normal hours of operation. You may contact Membership Services via phone at 785-864-1370.
Note that the ASRFC Administrative Office will have extended hours early each semester (approximately 3-5 days) to accommodate varying academic and work schedules.
At this time, KU Recreation Services can only offer an Alumni Membership to those that are in the Alumni Association, see the students tab on the main memberships page. Also, if you were enrolled at the University of Kansas (Lawrence campus) and paid the Required Campus Fee anytime during the Fall Semester 1998 and the summer 2003, you are eligible for Former Student membership. You will receive access (i.e. membership at no cost) for each semester you were enrolled at the KU-Lawrence campus and paid the Required Student Fee during the aforementioned time period. Verification must occur before your KU Photo ID or ASRFC Photo ID is activated.
No, you have no former student semesters available to activate.
No, former student semesters are not transferable.
No, former student semesters need not be activated consecutively until they are exhausted. However, you must activate for each semester that you intend to use the KU ASRFC. Please stop by the ASRFC Administrative Office during office hours to activate.
No, there is no expiration date for use of the former student semesters.
There are a few options if you just graduated from KU (Lawrence campus). If you graduated in the spring semester, you have the options of purchasing a Student Summer Membership or if you are a member of the KU Alumni Association, you can purchase that membership. If you graduated in the fall semester, you have the KU Alumni Association membership option, or you have the ability to purchase an Off-Term Student Membership. You are eligible for this membership option for the Spring semester directly following your fall graduation only. The cost of this membership is $20.88 per month. Verification of previous semester enrollment must occur prior to purchase and activation of membership. You are eligible for an Off-Term Student membership only once. Once you purchase the membership, you are not eligible for this membership at any time in the future.
Yes, you may purchase a summer membership. Verification of previous semester enrollment must occur prior to purchase and activation of membership.
Yes, you are eligible to purchase a summer membership once you have enrolled for the fall and have a KU Photo ID. The ASRFC Administrative Office staff will check the issue date of the KU Photo ID to ensure it was recently made by the KU Card Center.

At this time, KU Recreation Services does not offer a family membership for dependents. However, spouses or domestic partners of students, faculty/staff/Retirees/Affiliates and Continuing Education Students of the Lawrence Campus are eligible to purchase a membership to the KU ASRFC. Please see Membership Eligibility for requirements and more information.
You may use the ASRFC if prior arrangements have been made by the Conference Coordinator. The Conference Coordinator should contact Membership Services via phone at 785-864-1370.
No, the spouse may purchase a membership regardless if the Faculty/Staff/Retiree/Affiliate is a member or not. The spouse must meet all membership eligibility requirements.
Individuals who are enrolled in an on-line course through Continuing Education- Independent Study course do not pay the required Student fee and thus are not automatic members of the ASRFC. KU Recreation Services does offer membership option for individuals enrolled in Independent Study course(s) and/or their spouse/domestic partner. The cost is $20.88/month. They are eligible for 6 months, with the possiblity of a 3 month extension based upon verification. The spouse must meet all membership eligibility requirements. Starting August 1, 2009, off-campus students who enroll on or after July 1, 2009 in Independent Study courses will be able to purchase monthly ASRFC membership for the duration of their class.

No. If you have not enrolled yet for the current semester, you are not eligible to use the ASRFC. (No tuition has been paid, therefore no campus fees have been paid, therefore no fee for the Rec has been paid).
Appropriate KU Photo Identification must be presented upon each entry to gain admittance to the KU ASRFC. If no ID, please download on mobile app via the google play and apple stores. Search for "KU Recreation Services 2.0"
You must have your KU ID photo, have your Student ID number, or the KU Recreation Services 2.0 mobile app to gain access to the facility.
Please visit the KU Card Center for more information regarding replacement of your KU ID card. Hours are Tuesday and Friday 10a-3p by appointment only. To contact the KU Card office, please call 785-864-5845.
Faculty/Staff are eligible to start using the ASRFC once they have their KU Photo ID. Verification will be made by the ASRFC Administrative Office staff to ensure current status as Faculty/Staff. All faculty/staff are eligible for a one-week trial at no charge. Please go to Membership Eligibility and Fee Structure for more information.
Yes, the ASRFC Administrative Office staff can sell you a membership for a weekly rate.
Yes, please stop by the ASRFC Administrative Office to allow the staff to change your KU Photo ID number.
Guest Passes can be purchased by visiting our Admin Office between the hours of 8a-6p Monday through Friday.
When the admin office isn't open, guest passes can be purchased at the Welcome Center upon entry.
No. Guest passes can only be purchased on that date and both guest and sponsor MUST be present. The receipt is only good for that day (date is on the receipt). Guests must present photo ID and be 18 years of age or older.
No, the guest pass is not valid at the Robinson Center.
Yes, lost and found is located at the Equipment Checkout area at the ASRFC. Lost ID Cards for currently enrolled students, faculty/staff and retirees/affiliates are returned to the KU Card Center within 2 working days. KU Photo and ASRFC Photo cards of the other membership categories are turned into the ASRFC Administrative Office. The ASRFC Administrative Office staff will make an effort to contact the individuals who have their cards turned into the office.
Yes, KU Recreation Services does accept the KU Card for payment. KU Recreation Services does not accept Beak ‘Em Bucks.
KU Recreation Services does not cash on hand. All payments must be by credit card, debit card, or KU Account.
- Restricted parking is available in Yellow Parking Lot No. 90 from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. Yellow permit is required.
- Restricted parking is available in Red Parking Lot No. 90 from 7am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Red permit is required.
- Individuals with Park & Ride and Residence Hall permits can get a 3 hour maximum pass and park in the Yellow lot No. 90 while working out. Passes are obtained in the administrative office at the ASRFC.
- Meter parking is available in Parking Lot No. 90. Parking meters are limited to 1, 2 or 10 hour parking. Coin/Time designations are as follows: 3 minutes for each nickel, 6 minutes for each dime, and 15 minutes for each quarter.

Day use lockers are available in Men’s Locker Room and Women’s Locker Room at no cost during hours of operation. Personal locks may be used on any of these day use lockers. These lockers must be cleared and any lock removed by the end of the day. All locks remaining at the end of the day are subject to being cut at the owner’s expense and all items confiscated.
- 20 lockers in the Men’s and 20 lockers in the Women’s locker room can be rented on a first come, first serve basis.
- Lockers will only be rented during Membership Services office hours.

- No prorated rate, no matter the number of days or hours of operation in each term.
- Individuals will be able to renew lockers each term during the renewal notification/confirmation period, which will occur the month prior to expiration through email.
- A waiting list will be maintained for those who drop out. If not renewed or drop out and decide he/she wants to rent again, he/she will be added to the bottom of the wait list.
The KU ASRFC is closed on all University holidays and a day prior to or after a holiday. In addition, the KU ASRFC is closed on the weekends over winter break, and numerous days in late July / early August for maintenance and cleaning. KU Recreation Services does not make adjustments to memberships purchased. It is your responsibility to ensure you are purchasing your best membership option.
