Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Approximately 35 classes are offered each semester. Cardio, strength, dance, and mind/body sessions are scheduled throughout the week in order to promote a healthy, balanced and fit mind and body.

Those wishing to participate in KU Fit sessions must purchase a KU Fit Pass. To learn more about the types of passes and how to purchase, review "types of KU Fit passes" and "obtaining your pass" in the sections above.

KU Fit Instructors should provide modifications to simplify the exercises or make them more advance. Any fitness level from beginners to advanced can participate and be successful.

The training depends on the format a KU Fit Instructor teaches.  Some formats require a national fitness certification such as ACE Group Fitness Instructor; others require a training specific to the format; and some instructors may go through an in-house workshop.

KU students currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are eligible to become a KU Fit Instructor. Please contact KU Fit for more information.

Unfortunately, graduate students holding a GA, GTA, or GRA position are NOT eligible to become an instructor.

Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are provided for free during the yoga class.

You are welcome to bring your own yoga mat.

KU Fit classes have the most participants at the beginning of fall and spring semester, and especially during the first week of classes. However, classes become less busy as the fall and spring semester progresses.
