Kirsten King

Kirsten joined Recreation Services in October 2022 as the Assistant Director of Outdoor Pursuits and Special Events. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Kansas in 2013, her Master’s Degree in Sport Administration from Ball State University in 2015, and her Master of Business Administration specializing in the Outdoor Industry from Western Colorado University in 2020.

Before returning to the University of Kansas as a recreation professional, she spent seven years as an Outdoor Recreation Specialist for the United States Air Force Academy, leading outdoor adventure trips, hosting team building exercises, facilitating high ropes challenge courses, and managing a robust equipment rental operation. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, kayaking, paddleboarding, and spending time with family.
